Most travel insurers exclude cover for gadgets as standard from their policies, or if they do cover gadgets, the cover offered may be restricted. At Alpha, we understand how important technology is in our modern society.

Please note:

There is no cover for costs associated with downloaded content or unauthorised use of your gadget, such as calls.
There is no cover if you cannot provide valid proof of purchase/ownership (see your policy wording document for further details).
There is no cover for gadgets left unattended or in the custody of any person unless they are a family member, travelling companion or have official responsibility for the safety and supervision of your property.

Gadget insurance is an important addition to any trip, but especially those of a longer duration as many of us choose to take our smartphones away with us on holiday to capture our holiday snaps but also keep in touch with loved ones back home. What should I look for when buying gadget insurance?

Firstly, consider how much it would cost to replace your gadget should it be lost, stolen or damaged - is the amount of gadget insurance available high enough to cover the cost of this? Also, take a look to see if there is a maximum claim value per item or not - Alpha's gadget insurance has no single item limit!

Does it cover things such as loss, theft, accidental loss, water and liquid damage? Think about what elements you need your gadget to be covered for and check what is included in the policy.

How do I make a claim on my gadget insurance?

If you need to claim on the gadget insurance section of your Alpha Travel Insurance policy, then you'll need to check your policy wording, then contact the relevant department by following the below options on our claims page. In the event of a claim, you will need to notify us as soon as possible, within 28 days of the incident occurring. You'll get advice and assistance regarding making your gadget claim.
